Somatic (adj.) - of or relating to the body. We know that mind and body - thought, emotion, and sensation - are interconnected and influence one another, though not always in obvious ways. Somatic therapy is a form of psychotherapy that combines mind-body exercises, mindfulness, and experiential learning to address trauma at the root.
I offer individual and couples counseling for adults age 18+. I welcome folks of all genders, sexual orientations, cultures, races, faiths, and abilities who are ready to do the work. LGBTQI+ and polyam-friendly.
Perhaps you’ve been in therapy before but it hasn’t taken you very far, or you have done great work in “talk therapy” and you’re ready to go deeper. Somatic therapy is about learning how to listen to yourself, and unearth rather than bury the pain of the past.
Couples counseling is not just for when you are at the end of your tether or ready to split up. You can learn how to be a better partner at any time in your life or at any stage in your relationship.
